About the band Alesana

Formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2004, Alesana became one of the defining bands of the 2000s post-hardcore and screamo wave. Their sound combines heavy breakdowns, fast guitar work and sharp screams with melodic clean vocals, memorable choruses and a strongly theatrical sense of storytelling. The interplay between different vocal voices gives their songs much of their tension and momentum.

With albums such as On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, Where Myth Fades to Legend and the 2009 concept album The Emptiness, the band built an international following. Their material often draws on literary, dark and romantic themes. Songs including Apology, Seduction, The Thespian and The Murderer show how Alesana balance aggression, melody and drama.
