About the band Dritte Wahl

Dritte Wahl are one of the defining names in German-language punk rock. Formed in Rostock in 1988, the band emerged from the East German punk scene and grew into a major force far beyond their hometown. Their sound combines melodic punk rock with hardcore energy, political observation, personal stories and lyrics that stay with listeners long after the final chorus.

Albums such as Fasching in Bonn, Auge um Auge, 10 and Geblitzdingst highlight the band's different sides: furious and fast at times, reflective at others, and often sharpened by dry humour. On stage, Dritte Wahl are especially powerful because of their unity. Their songs are built for a direct connection with the crowd, the choruses land hard and a show quickly turns into one huge singalong.
