About the band The Audition
The Audition were a rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2003. Their sound combined alternative rock, pop punk, emo and post-hardcore, balancing sharp guitar work with highly melodic choruses and personal lyrics. They emerged during a period when emotionally direct songwriting and high-energy live performances were central to the wider alternative scene.
Albums including Controversy Loves Company and Champion helped The Audition build a loyal international following. Vocalist Danny Stevens gave the band a distinctive edge, moving between clean melody, urgency and full-throated intensity. From a concert photographer’s perspective, their songs were made for the stage: strong dynamics, expressive performances and choruses that pulled the room in.
